Built to Teach

Unlike many tabletop games, the Eversaga Roleplaying Game is presented with a teaching-first mindset, outlined and presented in a manner that sequences information in the order you need it to help you learn how to play.

The book’s first 5 chapters are themed around teaching new players and GMs everything they need to know about how to play a game of Eversaga. Chapter 1 starts by introducing core concepts like rolling dice and resolving rolls against Difficulty Classes and Defense Classes and continues onward from there, presenting information exactly as it’s needed.

Learn the Basics

Building a character in the Eversaga Roleplaying Game is both simple and intricate, allowing for a girth of character options using only the Core Rulebook. To create a character, all you need to do is remember the BASICs:

B

Background. Your character didn’t just appear from nowhere; they were born, grew up, and had dozens of formative experiences before the start of your Eversaga Roleplaying Game. Enter backgrounds. You gain two and can choose from inherited ancestries or learned kinships, whichever you prefer for your character!

A

Attributes. Your attributes are the 7 statistics that determine your skill at most of Eversaga’s special abilities. You can remember your character’s attributes using the handy acronym CALIBER: Charisma, Agility, Luck, Intelligence, Brawn, Endurance, and Reasoning.

S

Species. There are seven distinct species for players to choose from in the Eversaga Roleplaying Game, many familiar to long-time fans of tabletop RPGs and Everybody Games: stoic dwarfs, graceful elves, gutsy hauflins, versatile humans, shapeshifting kitsune, innovative nashi, and reptilian vetzpalli. Each species has a several pages-long write-up describing their physiology, culture, spirituality, ethnic groups and more!

I

Identity. All the best characters have distinct identities, and the Eversaga RPG takes several pages to discuss options for your character. In contrast to the other parts of BASIC, your Identity is largely flavor and doesn’t have much mechanical influence on your character. The section includes suggestions for playing diverse characters.

C

Class. The Eversaga Roleplaying Game has seven distinct classes for players to progress through: Bard, Elementian, Mage, Maven, Mystic, Shapeshifter, and Warrior. Each class possesses a unified framework that makes it easy to apply your knowledge of one class to the next, featuring seven traditions and dozens of talents per class for you to choose from.
